Sathyaraj to be seen in a dark avatar

Sathyaraj, a seasoned actor, is demonstrating once more that skill is not limited by age. As he continues to reinvent his second cinematic era, the renowned actor has two big releases scheduled for August 2025: Tribanadhari Barbarik, in which he plays a remarkably intense role, and Coolie, starring Rajinikanth.

Although fans are excited for both projects, Tribanadhari Barbarik has generated the most interest, particularly because of Sathyaraj's complex and dark persona. The film, which is slated to premiere on August 22, 2025, tells the tale of Sathyaraj's character Barbarik, a morally complex individual.

Online buzz has already been generated by the actor's ominous appearance and the teaser that showed the grey tones of his character.

Speaking about his evolving choices in cinema, Sathyaraj explained, “Even at 70, my passion for exploring fresh and unique roles remains strong. I’d rather take on characters like Barbarik than settle for the usual, conventional ones.”

He further expressed how quickly he was drawn to the project: “I'm thrilled to have been a part of Tribanadhari Barbarik. While each of us may have played key roles, it's the story itself that truly stands out as the real hero. The moment I heard about my character with grey shades, I agreed to do it right away.”

Directed by Mohan Srivatsa, the film also stars Vasishta Simha and Satyam Rajesh, and marks the return of celebrated anchor Udaya Bhanu in a villainous avatar. Sathyaraj believes that Tribanadhari Barbarik will not only resonate with audiences but also create new opportunities for him in the Telugu film industry.

Meanwhile, he also has a pivotal role in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s highly anticipated film Coolie alongside superstar Rajinikanth. Sathyaraj hinted that his character in the film plays a significant part in moving the narrative forward. With such strong projects on the horizon, the legendary actor continues to shine — proving yet again that his journey is far from over.
