Sanjay Dutt remembers mother Nargis Dutt on her 96th birth anniversary: "I miss you everyday"

Sanjay Dutt shared two sentimental pictures on Instagram to commemorate his mother Nargis Dutt's birth anniversary.

On June 1, the birth anniversary of legendary Bollywood actress Nargis Dutt, fans and film lovers fondly remembered her timeless contributions to Indian cinema. Marking the special day, her son Sanjay Dutt paid a heartfelt tribute on social media, sharing an emotional note in memory of his beloved mother.

Sanjay Dutt shared two sentimental pictures on Instagram to commemorate his mother Nargis Dutt's birth anniversary. One showed a glowing Nargis in her younger years, and the other was a touching family photo of a young Sanjay with Nargis by his side in the arms of his father, Sunil Dutt.

Along with the nostalgic photos, he penned in the caption, "Happy birthday maa, I miss you everyday and love you more."

Nargis, who was born on June 1, 1929, made her acting debut in Indian cinema with Talas-E-Haq (1935) when she was just five years old. But it was the 1942 movie Tamanna that marked the start of her official acting career. She gave many memorable performances over the years, but her most famous performance was as Radha in Mother India (1957). She won the coveted Filmfare Award for Best Actress for the Academy Award-nominated film, which is still a mainstay of Indian cinema.

Her last on-screen role was in the psychological suspense thriller Raat Aur Din, which further demonstrated her range as an actress.

In addition to her accomplishments in film, Nargis Dutt made important contributions to public service. She received the Padma Shri in 1958 for her exceptional contributions to the arts and was nominated to the Rajya Sabha in 1980–1981. Through her outstanding films and the enduring respect she enjoys across generations, her legacy lives on.

Nargis and Sunil Dutt tied the knot on March 11, 1958. they couple fell in love on the sets of the film Mother India. The couple have three children- Sanjay, Namrata and Priya. However, unfortunately Nargis succumbed to Pancreatic caner at the age of 51 on May 3, 1981.
