Sanam Teri Kasam, a film that is currently breaking records with its re-release and receiving an overwhelming amount of love from audiences, has sparked exciting rumors about a potential sequel. Fans have been eagerly awaiting any official announcements regarding the continuation of the romantic tragedy, and it seems their wishes might come true.
However, the excitement was met with a legal twist when the film's producer raised a copyright issue concerning the directors, Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru.
Recently, directors Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru hinted at the possibility of a part two, which sent fans into a frenzy of excitement.
However, this enthusiasm was met with a copyright dispute from the film’s producer, Deepak Mukut, who has now raised concerns over the duo’s statements to the media.
According to Mukut, the rights to the film lie with him, not the directors, and any sequel announcement without his involvement will not move forward.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Deepak Mukut addressed the issue and clarified, “The IP of Sanam Teri Kasam belongs to me since I am its producer. So, the rights to make a sequel or even a prequel or a remake rest with me. In fact, I announced the sequel in September 2024 with Harshvardhan Rane in the lead. As for the directors (Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru), I haven’t had any discussion with them. They haven’t met and spoken to me about it. I have not finalized any director.”

When questioned whether he had reached out to the directors, Mukut responded, “It is their duty to reach out to me rather than the other way round, especially since they are giving interviews about making the sequel. I just want to reiterate that the rights belong to me.”
Mukut also mentioned that the writing for the sequel is currently underway, and once it's complete, the project will go into production. Recently, Harshvardhan Rane, in anticipation of the sequel, declared that he would only be drinking water for the next 11 days as part of his preparation for the role.
