After more than 15 years in films, Samantha Ruth Prabhu is taking a step back — not from acting altogether, but from the relentless pace that once defined her career. In a recent chat with Grazia India, the actress shared how she’s now more focused on balance, wellness, and doing projects that truly light her up.
“I’ve reached a point where I do things I’m extremely passionate about, and that includes both fitness and films,” Samantha explained.
“I’ve been a part of several films and series, but not all of them were passion projects. But now, every single thing I do, every business I invest in, every film that I produce, all have my heart.”
Gone are the days when she juggled multiple shoots at once. Samantha admitted that she no longer forces herself into overwork. “I no longer shoot five films at a time. One thing I’ve realised is that I need to listen to my body, so I’ve reduced the amount of work I do. But now everything I do and put my energy into matters so much more. Nothing is for the heck of it. The quantity may have reduced, but the quality of projects has definitely increased.”
Recently, Samantha made a cameo in Subham, a Telugu film she also backed through her banner, Tralala Moving Pictures.
Audiences last saw her in Citadel: Honey Bunny, the Amazon Prime Video spy thriller opposite Varun Dhawan, created by Raj and DK.

Next, she’s set to star in Rakt Brahmand: The Bloody Kingdom, another series helmed by Raj and DK. With a stellar cast including Aditya Roy Kapur, Ali Fazal, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Jaideep Ahlawat, the high-octane show is currently in production and is expected to release in 2026.
For Samantha, this shift is about more than career choices. It’s about creating space for wellness, mindfulness, and passion. She may be doing fewer projects, but the ones she’s choosing now carry her full attention — and for her fans, that means more meaningful performances to look forward to.
