Renowned actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu has once again proven why she’s admired not just for her on-screen talent but also for her emotional honesty. On a recent episode of her podcast Take 20, the Yeh Maaya Chesave star opened up about a past relationship—one that didn't involve a person, but rather, her mobile phone. The revelation was unexpected, but it resonated deeply with many listeners as Samantha described a growing dependency that quietly took hold of her life.
Despite maintaining a healthy lifestyle and structured routine, Samantha found herself increasingly attached to her phone in ways that began to erode her peace of mind. She explained how the constant flood of notifications gave her a false sense of urgency and significance, blurring the lines between professional duty and personal well-being.
"This relationship with my phone, which I was starting to question again, and this false sense of importance that 'It's my work and it has to be done,'" she shared candidly.
To reclaim her mental clarity, Samantha made a bold move—she enrolled in a three-day silence retreat, cutting herself off completely from the digital world. No phone, no contact, no books, not even eye contact with others. The goal: to reset her overstimulated brain and rediscover inner calm. And it worked.
“The silence retreat was life-changing,” she implied through her reflections. The experience helped her realign with her values and re-evaluate how much of her energy was being drained by constant connectivity.
Samantha’s vulnerability didn’t stop there. She also addressed recent body-shaming remarks aimed at her on social media. Responding with strength and sarcasm, she posted a video of herself performing bar pull-ups, challenging trolls with a bold message.
“Here’s the deal. You don’t get to call me skinny, sickly, or any of that crap unless you can do 3 of these first. If you can’t… Then read between the frikkin lines…” she wrote.

Having openly shared her battle with the autoimmune condition myositis, Samantha continues to use her platform to challenge toxic narratives around body image and self-worth. Her message struck a chord with fans who praised her unapologetic stand.
Professionally, Samantha was last seen in Citadel: Honey Bunny on Amazon Prime Video and is working on multiple upcoming projects including Rakht Brahmand and Bangaram. She also recently turned producer with the film Subham, where she made a brief cameo.
