Dilip Kumar's appreciation extended beyond the silver screen and into the realm of music.

Today, July 7 marks the third death anniversary of Indian cinema icon Dilip Kumar. His wife Saira Banu penned a heartfelt letter, commemorating his life and legacy.

Saira Banu has repeatedly expressed that Dilip Kumar was her soulmate. Even after his passing three years ago, his absence continues to be deeply felt. Her dedication transcends merely preserving his celebrated film career.

She strives to ensure the world remembers him not only for his on-screen brilliance but also for the compassionate and noble character he embodied in his personal life. This unwavering commitment is evident in the recent heartfelt letter she penned, where her words overflow with profound love and devotion.

The letter that she wrote remembering her late husband stated:

"Dearest Yousuf Jaan,
No matter what, we will still walk together hand in hand. One in our thoughts and being until the end of time.
My days stretch on like an eternity and each moment is a memory of our togetherness. Often I think about the love and life we shared as it still keeps us complete for love, my dear 'Sahib,' consumes all that remains of a being. I am grateful to 'Allah' that I have been fortunate enough to belong to you in this life and with his mercy, 'Insha Allah,' I shall belong to you and you alone forever and ever.
Love,
Saira Banu Khan"

In an Instagram post where she shared her letter, Saira Banu commended Dilip Kumar's well-rounded personality. He had maintained close friendships with some of India's most prominent figures, including Prime Ministers Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and Narasimha Rao. His circle extended to leading lawyers, economists, and industrialists, showcasing his diverse interests and intellect.

Saira Banu's letter also reveals a lesser-known side of Kumar, a passion for sports. He was an excellent player of both football and cricket, and reportedly harboured a secret dream of becoming a national-level sportsman, a path fate ultimately redirected.

Dilip Kumar's appreciation extended beyond the silver screen and into the realm of music. Saira Banu described hosting musical gatherings at their home, complete with traditional "Darbar" settings for the artists. Despite his enthusiasm, Kumar also valued his sleep. On one such evening, he managed to slip away from the gathering for a nap but found himself unable to rest without her. This endearing anecdote is captured in a note he left for Saira Banu, playfully addressing her as "Aunty" and signing off with "Yours 100%," a sweet testament to their deep bond.

By sharing the letter and these heartwarming anecdotes in the caption, Saira Banu admirably expressed her immense love for the legend Dilip Kumar.
