Actress Richa Chadha has taken a strong stance following the horrifying murder of former junior tennis player Radhika Yadav, whose life was tragically cut short on July 10 in Gurugram.

In what has been widely denounced as a vicious act stemming from ingrained patriarchy and poisonous social norms, the 25-year-old athlete was allegedly shot dead by her father, Deepak Yadav.

The nation has been rocked by the news, and many people are furious about the crime and the attempts by some to defend the horrible deed.

According to reports, Radhika's father subjected her to years of emotional abuse and moral policing. Radhika had been a shining example of resilience and independence. According to police sources, her father may have become resentful of her because she had established her own tennis academy and become the family's only provider.

On July 13, Richa Chadha addressed the incident on X (formerly Twitter), reacting strongly to a video tribute posted by Radhika’s close friend, Himanshikha Singh Rajput. In the video, Himanshi recalled the relentless criticism Radhika faced simply for choosing to live life on her own terms—wearing shorts, speaking to men, and striving for self-sufficiency.

Richa expressed her horror in a searing post, “There is no honour in killing your own child. If a few wagging tongues said stuff to him earlier, now the whole world will remember Deepak Yadav as a loser, forever. Deepak Yadav, you have cemented your place as a LOSER and a COWARD in the annals of history.”

In a follow-up response to users defending or justifying the act, Richa did not mince words, stating, “Losers, too.”

Radhika's friend, Himanshi’s tribute detailed the tennis star’s struggles and achievements, describing her as a hardworking, spirited young woman whose success became a source of jealousy and control for those around her.

Gurugram Police have confirmed Deepak Yadav’s confession and labelled the case “open and shut”, citing forensic and eyewitness evidence.

While tributes continue to pour in across social media, authorities have stated that such online testimonies are not part of the formal investigation at this stage.
