Telugu actor Kiran Abbavaram has talked about the challenges young Telugu heroes face when trying to get their films released in Tamil Nadu. In an open interview with Galatta Plus, the K Ramp star expressed disappointment that Telugu actors in Tamil Nadu don't enjoy the same degree of love and acceptance as Tamil actors in Telugu-speaking states.
No market for any young Telugu heroes
Kiran responded to the regional discrepancy by pointing out that while several Tamil celebrities have amassed substantial fan bases in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, no up-and-coming Telugu actor has been able to achieve the same degree of popularity in Tamil Nadu.
"I recently saw Kalyani Priyadarshan's Lokah: Chapter 1-Chandra in theaters, and even in its second week, it was doing really well in Hyderabad," he said. "My only concern is that Tamil Nadu is not experiencing the same degree of success with Telugu heroes' high-quality content. Some people believe that great content will be viewed everywhere, but young Telugu heroes are also creating top-notch content. These days, there is a substantial market for almost ten Tamil heroes in Telugu. There isn't a single young Telugu hero in Tamil.

Theaters in Telugu states for Tamil heroes
Kiran went on to compare the box office performance of Pradeep Ranganathan's next film, K Ramp, in Tamil Nadu, with that of his previous film, Dude, in Telugu states.
Pradeep's Telugu film is struggling to find theaters in Tamil Nadu, he noted, while his Tamil film is being widely released in Andhra and Telangana.
"Now, like Pradeep Ranganathan did with his Telugu film, I want to release K Ramp in Tamil theaters. But Kiran admitted, "I know I won't get that opportunity." When I say this, people talk about celebrity, logistics, and business models. I can't call it a mafia because it's just business. But all we're asking for is the same amount of love that we give. I'm hoping to get it for my next film, Chennai Love Story, at the very least.

Regarding Dude and K Ramp
The lead parts in Jains Nani's K Ramp are played by Kiran Abbavaram and Yukti Thareja. The film, which was produced by Razesh Danda under Hasya Movies and Shiva Bommak under Ruudransh Celluloid, will be released in theaters on October 18, 2025.
Dude, which was directed by Keerthiswaran and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, stars Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju. It will be available one day earlier on October 17, 2025.
A call for cultural openness
Kiran's comments have sparked conversations on social media about the disparity between the Telugu and Tamil film industries. Kiran hopes that Telugu stars in Tamil Nadu will eventually receive the same respect and opportunities as their Telugu counterparts, such as Sivakarthikeyan, Dhanush, Suriya, and Vijay, who enjoy tremendous support in the Telugu market.
