Going by trade experts, Kaantha is likely to perform well at the box office.

The film, directed by Selvamani Selvaraj and jointly produced by Spirit Media and Wayfarer Films, earned Rs 4 crore as per early estimates on its opening day across all languages in India.

Backed by rave reviews from both critics and audiences alike, Kaantha is likely to maintain its rhythm during the weekend.

Trade experts believe Kaantha is expected to get a solid run, thanks to its strong word-of-mouth and star-studded cast.

Early occupancy trends show good traction, especially in Tamil and Telugu language.

On Day 1 the Tamil (2D) version recorded a positive trend with the following occupancy - Morning shows had 14.60%, Afternoon shows : 19.06%, Evening shows: 18.62% and Night shows: 34.44%.

Cities like Chennai (29.50%), Pondicherry (33.75%), Kochi (31.50%), and Trichy (25.25%) reported the strongest footfalls, while metros such as Mumbai (9.25%) and NCR (8.25%) showed modest but growing interest by night shows.

The Telugu version saw an overall 19.46% occupancy, with night shows performing the best:

Morning: 16.35%

Afternoon: 19.92%

Evening: 17.80%

Night: 23.76%

Critical Reception

In its review, Moneycontrol praised Kaantha for its powerful storytelling and gripping performances especially by Dulquer Salmaan.
