Neeraj Ghaywan's profoundly poignant film Homebound is poised to be seen by people worldwide after winning hearts and receiving widespread praise.

The much-talked-about drama, starring Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor, released in theatres on 26 September 2025, and will now make its way to Netflix this month.

The movie has already made the country proud — Homebound was recently announced as India’s official entry to the 98th Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category, cementing Ghaywan’s reputation as one of the most powerful voices in contemporary Indian cinema.

Homebound, produced by Karan Johar, is about two childhood friends, Mohammed Shoaib Ali (Ishaan Khatter) and Chandan Kumar (Vishal Jethwa), who are united by their aspirations to become police officers. Martin Scorsese is the executive producer of the Neeraj Ghaywan directorial venture.

In the midst of class conflicts and unwavering ambition, the film brilliantly and subtly conveys the essence of friendship and the human spirit.

Following his historic debut in Masaan (2015), Neeraj Ghaywan's second feature film, Homebound, shares similarities with his first in terms of social realism and unadulterated emotion.

Every scene is made more realistic and nuanced by the supporting cast, which includes Vijay Vikram Singh, Shalini Vatsa, Chandan K. Anand, and Harshika Parmar.

At the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, Homebound made a spectacular debut and was given a standing ovation that lasted nine minutes.
