NJZ (formerly NewJeans) member Danielle has stirred up a controversy following her remarks about former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin during the ongoing legal battle between the group and their former agency. On March 7, NJZ attended the first court hearing regarding their dispute with ADOR, where Danielle’s statement about Min Hee Jin caught the attention of netizens.
According to Koreaboo, Danielle referred to Min Hee Jin as an integral part of the group, implying that NewJeans was actually a six-member team. Expressing concern over the former CEO facing criticism, she said, "We are very sensitive to each member’s condition, so we always worry about injuries or illnesses. What I want to say is that while there are five of us on stage, we are actually a team of six, including CEO Min Hee Jin. Seeing her being attacked and all these absurd articles coming out, I was terrified of losing her."
Her remarks sparked a heated debate on platforms like Reddit, where many users accused the group of being overly influenced by Min Hee Jin. Some found the statement concerning, suggesting that the members might be emotionally dependent on their former CEO.

One user commented, “The court should call in a child/youth psychologist for a consultation.” Another wrote, “‘Afraid of losing her’ is what you say when you think your girl is about to break up with you.” A more critical take read, “They are legal adults and too far gone. They need to be evaluated by high-end psychologists who work with adults.” Another user joked, “NewJeans’ 6th member announcement was not on my 2025 bingo card.”
Some fans, however, defended Danielle’s words, arguing that her statement reflected deep gratitude towards Min Hee Jin, who played a pivotal role in shaping the group’s success.
