Nikita Luther claims The Traitors' 'editing is heavily scripted' to fit a narrative

Professional poker player Nikita Luther and reality TV star Uorfi Javed took home the whopping prize after winning Karan Johar’s The Traitors India Season 1, leaving everyone in shock. However, Nikita is again making headlines after she revealed some of the shocking details about the show.

Nikita has recently claimed that even though the show wasn’t scripted, the editing was heavily manipulated to form a planned narrative. She noted that she recognised Purav Jha as a traitor on Day 6, but that part was completely cut out and never shown.

She also admitted that the editing was unfair, showing some contestants as heroes while minimising or removing the strategic gameplay of others.

During a recent appearance at Just Too Filmy, Nikita admitted, “The main thing that is not communicated is that I knew Purav is a traitor since day 6. And it’s nowhere. They have not put it in episode 6, they have not put it in episode 7, 8, 9.”

She added, “Maine kaha chalo finale mein dalenge. Finale mein bhi mera Circle Of Shaq ka interrogation Purav wala they’ve cut it. (I thought they will add it in the finale. But they also cut my interrogation scene with Purav in the Circle Of Shaq during finale).”

Nikita further noted, “So while the show was not scripted, the editing is heavily scripted. It is edited to favour certain narratives and given archetypes. Wo personalities assign kari hui hain logon ko (Those personalities are assigned to people) and for me, it didn’t come through. Fair enough, whatever the call was, but the editing was entirely scripted to make people heroes, and throw people off the game.”

She also mentioned that she had explained her reasons for rejecting the Traitors’ invitation from Purav and Elnaaz, but that segment was also omitted from the final edit.

Prime Video’s The Traitors featured several well-known personalities including Karan Kundrra, Raj Kundra, Raftaar, Jasmin Bhasin, Anshula Kapoor, Maheep Kapoor, Jannat Zubair, Sudhanshu Pandey, Uorfi Javed, Apoorva Mukhija, Nikita Luther, among others. Uorfi and Nikita won a cash prize of a whopping Rs 70.05 lakh.
