Sunny Deol is gearing up for his upcoming film Jaat and has collaborated with Hyderabad-based Mythri Movie Makers, the production house known for producing the Pushpa franchise starring Allu Arjun.

During the News18 Rising Bharat Summit, Sunny Deol, who was invited as a special guest in Delhi on Tuesday, has reflected on his collaboration with the South Indian producers for his upcoming film.

Sunny Deol was asked why he chose to collaborate with the South producers, the actor said, “Dekhiye main aaj kal ke interviews main ye keh raha hun ki jab maine pehli Gadar ki.. wo itni successful hogayi ki meri dukaan band ho gayi thi.” (I'm saying in my interviews nowadays that when I made the first Gadar... it was so successful that my shop was closed down (due to its huge popularity)."

Sunny continued, “aur jab dusri Gadar aayi to phir se dukaan khul gayi to uske baad then I have lots and lots of offers and Mythri movies wale aaye the wo mujhe airport pe bhi mile the then they wanted to sign me.” ("And when the second Gadar came, my shop reopened again. After that, I had lots and lots of offers, and Mythri Movies people came to meet me even at the airport, wanting to sign me.")

Sunny Deol also talked about the plot of the upcoming film and said, “It’s not a remake of any film, it’s an original subject by the director Gopichand and jaise aapne dekha hoga trailer me… jaisi trailer hai waisi hi film hai… ekdum dumdaar.”

Gadar: Ek Prem Katha was released in 2001 and was a huge hit. The film also stars Ameesha Patel. Meanwhile, Gadar 2 was released in 2023 and was a massive commercial success, grossing over Rs 691 crore worldwide.

Jaat will be released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages. The high-octane drama also stars Randeep Hooda, Vineet Kumar Singh, Saiyami Kher and Regina Cassandra in the lead roles. The film is set to debut in the theatres on April 10.
