In a heartfelt moment that transcended borders, the late Assamese singer Zubeen Garg was honoured by Pakistani band ‘Khudgharz’ during their recent concert in Karachi.

The band played the famous song "Ya Ali" by Zubeen Garg, which was made famous by the 2006 Bollywood film Gangster, featuring Emraan Hashmi, Shiney Ahuja, and Kangana Ranaut.

The tribute struck a chord with fans on both sides of the border. On Instagram, Khudgharz wrote, “From Karachi With Love, Zubeen Garg, you’ll always remain a part of our playlists. Thank you.”

Comments poured in, with fans praising the gesture as a reminder that art has no boundaries. One user said, “I wish he knew how loved he was. He is celebrated not just in India but elsewhere too. Truly a legend.”

Another wrote, “Thank you for showing love for our beloved Zubeen Garg. He always loved all and worked for humanity, animals, and the environment. He never followed divisions.”

The late singer’s family, still grappling with grief, has demanded clarity surrounding his sudden demise.

Garima Saikia Garg, Zubeen’s wife, shared on Facebook,"...we will be together again, very soon Goldie (the name by which Zubeen was called by the family). But now, very soon, I/we all want to know the reason why you went away physically from us...Why? This is a big question. This question is burning my empty heart day and night. I want an answer..."

Zubeen’s sister, Palme Borthakur, echoed her sister-in-law’s concerns, stating, “You will again call me ‘Momon’ when we meet on the other side…now we have only one goal…to ensure justice for you.” She also urged fans to extend mental support to the family during this difficult time.

The investigation into the singer’s death has already led to multiple arrests, including his manager Siddhartha Sharma, musician Shekharjyoti Goswami, singer Amritprava Mahanta, and North East India Festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta. Authorities continue to probe the matter as fans and family await answers.
