Navya Nanda wishes her grandparents Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan a happy anniversary

Amitabh Bachchan was initially set to appear in ‘Guddi’ alongside Jaya but he was removed from the role due to his growing popularity.

Bollywood legendary couple Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan completed 51 years of their marriage today. The couple are perfect off screen and on screen both. They have shared the screen in several movies like 'Chupke Chupke', 'Zanjeer', ‘Abhimaan’, ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham,’ among many others.

Their granddaughter Navya Nanda took to her Instagram story to wish her grandparents a happy anniversary. She posted an old black and white picture of Amitabh and Jaya. The couple, in the picture, look really young and beautiful together.

Navya Nanda captioned her story as - “51 years…Happy Anniversary.”

The iconic couple are the perfect example of everlasting and pure love. Amitabh Bachchan was initially set to appear in ‘Guddi’ alongside Jaya but he was removed from the role due to his growing popularity.

In a book titled 'To Be Or Not To Be: Amitabh Bachchan,’ Jaya Bachchan wrote, "When I heard that Amitabh Bachchan would be the hero of Guddi, I was secretly pleased. He was different and would be perfect for a film which did not deal with the usual hero-heroine romantic subject."

In the same book, Jaya also revealed that Amitabh Bachchan drove 5 hours to see her graduate.

"I was extremely touched when he drove five hours to the Institute to be at the convocation ceremony on my graduation day at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). Amitabh would gift me expensive, heavy Kanjeevaram saris. Funnily enough most of the saris were white with a purple border, purple a colour which does not suit me,” she wrote.

The couple tied the knot after their film ‘Zanzeer’. In an Instagram post on their 47th anniversary, Big B wrote, “"47 years .. today .. June 3, 1973 .. !!Had decided if Zanjeer would succeed, we would along with a few friends go to London for the first time .. My Father asked who you going with ? When i told him who , he said you must marry her before you go .. else you don’t go .. So .. I obeyed .. !!”

The couple were blessed with two children - Shweta Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan.
