Actor Amitabh Bachchan joined the chorus of congratulations for Team India as they clinched their second ICC T20 World Cup title on Saturday by defeating South Africa. However, the legendary actor confessed that he hadn't watched the thrilling match. Early on Sunday, Amitabh took to his blog to explain why.

In his blog post, Amitabh wrote, "WORLD CHAMPIONS… INDIA!!! T20 WORLD CUP 2024. The excitement and emotions and the apprehension... ALL DONE and over... the TV was not seen... we lose when I do! Nothing more enters the cerebrum... just the tears in tune with the tears of the TEAM!”
He also expressed his emotions on X (formerly known as Twitter). He tweeted, "T 5057 - Tears flowing down .. in unison with those that TEAM INDIA sheds ..WORLD CHAMPIONS INDIA. Bharat Maata ki jay (Hail India). Jai Hind Jai Hind Jai Hind.”
In a nail-biting chase of 177 runs, South Africa started poorly. Despite a counterattack, they fell short, ending at 169/8. India emerged victorious by a narrow margin of 7 runs.
On the professional front, Amitabh recently portrayed Ashwatthama in "Kalki 2898 AD," directed by Nag Ashwin. The post-apocalyptic film, inspired by Hindu scriptures and set in 2898 AD, features Deepika Padukone, Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani. This mythology-inspired sci-fi epic includes cameos by Vijay Deverakonda, Dulquer Salmaan, and Mrunal Thakur.
