The much-anticipated sequel, Mookuthi Amman 2, starring Nayanthara, is currently in production. However, the film recently found itself at the center of controversy after the actress reportedly had a disagreement with an assistant director over a costume-related issue.
According to Hindu Tamil, tensions escalated when Nayanthara allegedly reprimanded the crew member, creating unrest on set. This led director Sundar C to pause the shoot, sparking speculation that the team was considering replacing Nayanthara with Tamannaah in the titular role.
Amid the swirling rumours, producer Ishari K. Ganesh stepped in to mediate, holding discussions with Nayanthara to resolve the conflict. Following a mutual understanding, the team decided to cancel the Pollachi schedule and instead resumed filming at the Ponniamman Temple in Alapakkam, Chennai. The production continued the next day in Nazarathpettai, ensuring that the project stayed on course despite the temporary setback.
Currently, the shoot is progressing in Chennai, with plans to return to Pollachi once the initial schedule is wrapped up.
The 2020 blockbuster Mookuthi Amman revolves around Engels, a journalist who leads a simple life with his family. However, his life takes an unexpected turn when the divine ancestral goddess Mookuthi Amman manifests before him, fulfilling his wishes and showering him with blessings.
Directed by Sundar C, the film boasts an ensemble cast featuring Duniya Vijay, Regina Cassandra, Yogi Babu, Urvashi, Abhinaya, and Ramachandra Raju, each contributing to the film’s engaging narrative.
