Singer Mika Singh opened up in a recent interview with Shubhankar Mishra about his long-standing friendship with Salman Khan, sharing entertaining and candid stories that reveal the superstar’s quirky and unpredictable nature. According to Mika, Salman is one of those rare individuals who cannot be approached at just any time of the day—there’s a specific “Salman time” that even industry insiders often get wrong.
“Salman Bhai raat ko kuch aur hote hain aur din ko kuch aur hote hain (Salman Bhai is a different person at night and a different person during the day),” Mika said with a laugh, explaining that Salman is warm and approachable in the evening, especially when music is involved. “After two drinks, he treats me like an equal. But that doesn’t mean you should forget who you’re talking to—he’s Salman Khan. People go wrong when they start feeling important too soon.”
Reflecting on his own early days, Mika admitted he once made the mistake of not showing the proper respect to Salman. “I was a fool. I should’ve touched his feet and asked if I could sing for him. He was shooting for Jaanam Samjha Karo and even had tea with us. He asked me to sing, and I performed with full moves… He must’ve thought, ‘What a cartoon they’ve brought in front of me.’”
One of the funniest stories Mika recalled involved the Meet Bros. The music duo, he said, misunderstood their budding camaraderie with Salman after sharing biryani with him one evening. “They thought they’d become best friends. But they didn’t know what I knew. You never approach Salman Bhai during the day—especially between 2 pm and 6 pm. He’s not angry, he’s just in his own world.” Mika revealed that at the Race 3 premiere, the Meet Bros were left stunned when Salman walked right past them without a word. “I told them, ‘This isn’t the time. Wait till evening and bring a song with you.’”
Mika also shared that Salman has a habit of calling his friends late at night, often expecting them to answer no matter where they are. “He called me once at 4 am when I was in Bali, saying he wanted to sing ‘Hangover’. He sang it beautifully over the phone. Then he sang ‘Jumme Ki Raat’—that was supposed to be my song! But who was going to tell him that? I messaged Bhushan Kumar and Sajid Nadiadwala and said, ‘I know what’s happening…’”
These amusing incidents highlight not just Salman’s stardom, but also his eccentric charm—something only those close to him truly understand.
