In a recent development surrounding the investigation into the late actor Matthew Perry's death, it has been revealed that Erik Fleming, Perry's ketamine dealer, once managed a luxury rehabilitation center where a patient tragically died from an overdose.

The news sheds light on Fleming’s controversial past and raises questions about the operations at the high-end facility.

According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Fleming served as the sober living manager and program director at a prestigious rehab center known as ‘Red Door’ in Bel-Air. The center, which catered to an elite clientele, was the site of a tragic incident in January 2021, when a 36-year-old patient named William Cooney died from a drug overdose.

Although Fleming was employed at Red Door at the time, his attorney, Michael J. Plonsker, clarified that Fleming was not present at the facility on the day of Cooney's death.

Plonsker, citing federal health confidentiality laws, refrained from providing further details about the circumstances surrounding Cooney's death.

However, he emphasized that Red Door operates with "the highest levels of client care" and that neither the center nor its founders were responsible for the incident. Despite these assurances, staff members and former patients who spoke with The Hollywood Reporter suggested that Cooney's death may have been the result of inadequate monitoring and assessment at the facility, pointing to potential negligence on the part of the rehab center.

The revelation of Fleming’s connection to Red Door comes in the wake of the untimely death of Matthew Perry, beloved for his role as Chandler Bing on the iconic TV show Friends. Perry passed away on October 29, 2023, at the age of 54, reportedly due to an apparent drowning.
