Marvin Jones III is swinging into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor has been cast as Tombstone, the notorious New York crime boss, in the upcoming live-action film Spider-Man: Brand New Day, sources confirm to Deadline.

Production, temporarily paused after Tom Holland suffered a concussion, is set to resume September 29, keeping the film on track for its July 31, 2026 theatrical release.

From Animated Spider-Verse To Live-Action MCU

Jones is no stranger to the menacing Tombstone. He voiced the character in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the Oscar-winning animated feature, and is set to return in the forthcoming threequel Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

Lonnie Lincoln, aka Tombstone, is a hulking African-American albino with near-indestructible skin and filed teeth, making him a formidable threat to Spider-Man. The character first appeared in Web of Spider-Man #36 in March 1988, created by writer Gerry Conway and artist Alex Saviuk.

Joining Jones, the Spider-Man: Brand New Day cast features Zendaya reprising her role as MJ, with Mark Ruffalo expected to return as The Hulk.
