Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta star in Lakshaya

Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta starrer, and Farhan Akhtar’s directorial war action film, Lakshya, has turned 21, and the makers are celebrating the milestone moment. Farhan shared a video from the film on his social media to mark the occasion.

He wrote in the caption, “Celebrating 21 years of a story about finding purpose, one step at a time. #21YearsOfLakshya.”

However, Farhan took the viewers to the Line of Control 21 years ago, and he seems to be having a full-circle moment, as he is gearing up to take fans into the battlefield, but this time as an actor. The filmmaker and actor portray real-life war hero Maj Shaitan Singh Bhati PVC in 120 Bahadur.

Lakshya, directed by Farhan Akhtar and produced by Excel Entertainment and UTV Motion Pictures, is more than a war film; it's a powerful coming-of-age story about discovering courage, finding direction, and defining one's purpose. The film remains a timeless classic, and there are multiple reasons behind it.

Karan Shergill’s realistic journey

Hrithik Roshan portrays a lost, confused, and unsure Karan Shergill. He wasn’t born a hero and was grappling with the emotions just like many of us at some point. However, he underwent a drastic transformation that was gradual, honest, and deeply personal. Hrithik brought life to his character with his powerful portrayal.

Direction and characters ahead of time

Farhan Khan was just 30 years old when he directed the war film, which delved more into purpose than patriotism. He flawlessly documented the inner battle of the military personnel in the war zone.

Meanwhile, Preity Zinta’s character, Romila, was also ahead of time. She wasn’t just Karan’s love interest, but was a strong, independent, focused, and sure of herself journalist, who wasn’t afraid to hold her ground and made Karan confront who he really was.

Lyrics and music

Fans still remember the beautiful lyrics of songs like Kitni Baatein and Kandhon Se Milte Hain Kandhe. These lyrics said things we often feel but don’t know how to express.

Meanwhile, the soundtrack by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy beautifully resonated with Karan's transformation, capturing his emotional journey from restlessness to determination, with the music perfectly reflecting his growth and evolution.

A real look at military life

Lakshya documented the young men's real struggles, training, and sweating and their slow transformation into soldiers. The film paid respect to the army without over-glorifying it.

Captivating visuals

The film was shot in Ladakh by Christopher Popp and captured the serene landscape as well as the silence within. The mountains became a mirror to Karan’s journey.

Relevant dialogues

Lakshya features several dialogues, scenes, and emotions that still resonate with many. The film reminds fans that it’s okay to feel lost in a world full of noise, confusion and pressure. It helped people to keep going in a life full of chaos.

From Lakshya to 120 Bahadur: A full-circle moment

After over two decades of Lakshya's release, Farhan Akhtar reprises the spirit of heroism in 120 Bahadur, this time portraying Maj. Shaitan Singh Bhati, a war hero from the 1962 Rezang La battle, embodies bravery, conviction, and sacrifice.
