The recently released film Khel Khel Mein directed by Mudassar Aziz, has garnered decent attention at the box office during its opening weekend. Starring Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, Ammy Virk, and a host of other stars, the film has managed to attract a fair number of moviegoers, though its performance has seen fluctuations over the first three days.
Khel Khel Mein opened with a solid start, earning Rs 5.05 crore on its first day (Thursday). The film's opening day performance was driven by Akshay Kumar's star power and the ensemble cast, which includes popular actors like Taapsee Pannu and Vaani Kapoor. Despite facing competition from other films released around the same time, Khel Khel Mein managed to draw in audiences, particularly in metro cities.
However, the film witnessed a sharp decline in collections on its second day (Friday). The earnings dropped by 59.41%, with Khel Khel Mein collecting Rs 2.05 crore on day two. Such a decline is not uncommon for films that see a front-loaded opening day, where a significant portion of the film’s audience rushes to see it on the first day. Despite this drop, the film's total collection after two days stood at Rs 7.10 crore.
On its third day (Saturday), Khel Khel Mein showed signs of recovery, earning around Rs 2.85 crore, according to early estimates. This represents a 39.02% increase from the previous day. While the Saturday collections were still below the opening day’s numbers, the increase suggests that the film managed to pull in a decent audience over the weekend, particularly in the evening and night shows.
The total box office collection for Khel Khel Mein at the end of three days now stands at approximately Rs 9.95 crore. While these numbers are modest compared to some other recent releases, they indicate that the film has found an audience, albeit a selective one.
The occupancy rates for Khel Khel Mein on its third day provide insight into its performance. The film recorded an overall occupancy rate of 25.59% in Hindi 2D screens on Saturday, with night shows showing the highest turnout at 43.89%. Morning shows saw an occupancy of 8.50%, while afternoon shows recorded 23.02%, and evening shows 26.93%.
Audience reception has been mixed, with some praising the film’s light-hearted approach and ensemble cast, while others have critiqued the film’s pacing and storyline. Despite these mixed reviews, Khel Khel Mein has managed to hold its ground in a competitive box office environment.
