In a significant breakthrough, the Karnataka Police have recovered several critical pieces of evidence in the murder case involving Kannada film actor Darshan Thoogudeepa and his partner, Pavithra Gowda. The case revolves around the brutal killing of 33-year-old Renuka Swamy, who allegedly made derogatory comments against the actor and Pavithra.

Recovery of Evidence

The police investigation has led to the discovery of various items that were reportedly used in the assault and subsequent murder of Renukaswamy. Among the recovered items are:

Iron rods and wooden clubs: These were used to physically assault Renukaswamy.
Ropes: These were used to tie up Renukaswamy, ensuring he could not escape.
 

CCTV Footage: Video evidence shows the accused transporting Renukaswamy to the murder location and subsequently disposing of his body.
Mobile Location Data: This places the accused at the crime scene during the time of the murder.
Vehicles: The cars used in both the abduction of Renuka Swamy from Chitradurga to Bengaluru and the transportation of his body have been identified.
Call Records and WhatsApp Chats: These include call logs and messages between Darshan, his associates, and the accused.
Forensic Evidence: The clothes worn by Renukaswamy at the time of the murder have been sent for forensic analysis.
Financial Transactions: Details of a ₹30 lakh payment allegedly made by Darshan to the accused have also surfaced.

The Incident

Renuka Swamy's murder occurred on June 8. His body was discovered in a stormwater drain in Bengaluru's Kamakshipalya area after a food delivery boy reported seeing dogs nibbling on a human body. The police were alerted and an investigation commenced immediately.

Arrests and Accusations

Following a thorough investigation, 12 suspects have been arrested, including Darshan Thoogudeepa and Pavithra Gowda. The couple is alleged to have orchestrated the murder in response to Renukaswamy's derogatory comments about them. Statements from the arrested individuals and other evidence have further implicated the actor and his wife in the crime.

Post-Mortem Report

The post-mortem report of Renukaswamy, expected to be released on Friday, is anticipated to provide critical insights into the exact cause of death. Preliminary reports suggest that Renukaswamy might have been forced to consume alcohol before being assaulted.
