After a complaint was filed claiming that a scene in the movie Jaat offended the sentiments of the Christian community, police confirmed on Friday that Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda, and three other actors were the targets of a formal complaint.

The filmmakers quickly apologised and acknowledged that the contentious scene had been cut from the film in response to the complaint. Christian community leader Viklav Gold filed the complaint, alleging that the film Jaat, which debuted on April 10, contains offensive material about Jesus Christ and Christian religious customs. Gold also questioned the sensitivity of the timing, voicing concerns about the movie's release falling on Good Friday.

Randeep is shown in the scene standing beneath a crucifix above the sacred pulpit inside a church. Members of the congregation are seen praying in another picture. The community has objected to the portrayal, citing it as disrespectful, because it implies violence within the church.

The filmmakers released a statement and said, "There has been a backlash for a specific scene in the film. The scene has been removed from the film with immediate effect. Our intention was not to hurt any religious sentiments. We deeply regret it and have taken a quick action of deleting the scene from the film. We sincerely apologize to everyone whose beliefs have been hurt."

Sanjeev Kumar, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Jalandhar Cantonment police station, confirmed that the FIR filed on Wednesday evening names actors Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda, and Vineet Kumar, along with director Gopichand and producer Naveen, in connection with the controversy surrounding the film Jaat.

"The FIR was registered under section 299 (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) of the BNS," the SHO said.
