IT: Welcome To Derry OTT release date announced: When and where to watch the horror prequel series in India

HBO’s much-anticipated horror prequel series IT: Welcome to Derry is finally making its digital debut, bringing fans back into the terrifying world of Stephen King’s imagination. Expanding on the mythology of one of horror’s most iconic villains, Pennywise the Dancing Clown, the show promises to take viewers on a chilling journey into the cursed history of Derry.

The series will premiere globally on HBO Max on October 26, 2025.

For Indian audiences, the wait extends just by a day, IT: Welcome to Derry will be available to stream exclusively on JioHotstar from October 27, 2025.

The wide digital release ensures that fans across continents can experience the sinister new take on King’s story from the comfort of their homes.

Set in the 1950s and 60s, the prequel explores the roots of Derry’s haunting curse, with the spotlight on the early encounters of Mike Hanlon’s grandparents with Pennywise.

By anchoring the narrative in this period, the series offers a fresh perspective on how the terror began and why Derry has remained bound to its dark fate.

The generational backdrop adds depth, giving long-time fans more context to the franchise’s lore.

The series has been developed by Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti, the duo behind the recent IT films, along with screenwriter Jason Fuchs.

Andy Muschietti will also direct several episodes, ensuring continuity in vision and style with the blockbuster movies. Their involvement guarantees the same chilling atmosphere and suspense-driven storytelling that made the earlier films global hits.

Bill Skarsgård reprises his role as Pennywise, continuing his now-iconic portrayal of the menacing clown. The cast also features Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, James Remar, Madeleine Stowe, and Rudy Mancuso, who bring fresh characters into the fold. Their performances will help flesh out new layers of the story while keeping ties to the original narrative.

IT: Welcome to Derry doesn’t just revisit Stephen King’s iconic world — it expands it. By digging into untold stories and exploring the origins of Pennywise, the series aims to enrich the legacy of King’s novel and the successful film adaptations. For horror enthusiasts, it marks the next big chapter in a saga that has kept generations awake at night.

With its release on HBO Max and JioHotstar, this spine-chilling prequel is set to draw both loyal fans and new audiences into the nightmare of Derry once again.
