Inspector Zende Trailer: Manoj Bajpayee brings back Mumbai’s forgotten cop legend, Jim Sarbh essays criminal mastermind

Bollywood powerhouse Manoj Bajpayee is back in uniform, this time for Netflix’s upcoming thriller Inspector Zende. Known for his unforgettable performances in films like Satya and acclaimed series such as The Family Man, Bajpayee once again steps into the shoes of a determined cop, chasing down a criminal mastermind.

The makers unveiled the much-anticipated trailer on Monday, offering audiences a glimpse into an intense cat-and-mouse chase between Bajpayee’s Inspector Zende and Jim Sarbh’s chilling portrayal of Charles Sobhraj, infamously dubbed the “bikini killer.”

The trailer opens with Sarbh’s character slipping effortlessly into multiple disguises—reminding viewers of Sobhraj’s real-life notoriety as a conman, fraudster, and serial killer who evaded capture for years. Soon after, Bajpayee’s Inspector Zende is introduced, leading a special team tasked with hunting down the elusive criminal. What follows promises to be a tense, high-stakes pursuit across continents, filled with deception, suspense, and power-packed confrontations.

Adding to the intrigue, the film is inspired by real-life events surrounding Charles Sobhraj and the relentless efforts of law enforcement officers who tracked him down. With Sarbh bringing his trademark intensity to the role of the enigmatic fugitive, and Bajpayee embodying the grit of a relentless cop, the film promises a gripping battle of wits.

Directed by Chinmay D Mandlekar, Inspector Zende also boasts the backing of producers Om Raut and Jay Shewakramani. The project marks yet another exciting outing for Bajpayee, who has consistently impressed audiences with his versatility and command over complex characters. For Sarbh, fresh off international acclaim for Rocket Boys and Made in Heaven, the role offers him a chance to dive into a dark, layered character based on one of history’s most infamous criminals.

The film is set to premiere exclusively on Netflix on September 5, 2025. Ahead of its release, fans are already drawing parallels to Bajpayee’s celebrated roles in cop dramas, while eagerly awaiting his face-off with Sarbh.
With a nail-biting trailer setting the tone, Inspector Zende promises to deliver an edge-of-the-seat thriller that combines crime, drama, and the raw tension of a dangerous pursuit.
