Honey Singh sparks another controversy

Rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh has again landed in hot water after allegedly cancelling a recent event due to security concerns.

According to India Today, Honey Singh was set to perform at an award show but decided to back out at the last minute because his personal bodyguards were not permitted. The award ceremony took place in Mohali on August 23.

A source told the outlet that Honey Singh's team was stopped at the gate due to his extensive security detail. According to reports, the local police also assisted in providing an extra degree of security at the location, and the organisers had their own security guards on hand.

The source said, “As per the protocols, they did not allow any other external members on the ground for anyone. However, Honey Singh was persistent in getting his own safety unit as a precautionary measure.”

The source continued, “While the organisers understood and respected his demands, given the overall security plans, they could not agree to it. After a long discussion with the organisers, the musician left the venue, refusing to perform.”

Currently, both teams are attempting to reach a mutual resolution to the financial dispute brought on by the last-minute cancellation. In addition to Honey Singh, the event featured performances by Neeru Bajwa, Jacqueline Fernandez, Soundarya Sharma, and Bismil.

Honey Singh is yet to address the reports.

The rapper and musician previously landed in trouble over objectionable lyrics used in his song, Millionaire. Punjab women's panel took a suo motu notice of the "objectionable language" used by the rapper in his latest song. They have asked the police to investigate and take action on the matter.
