Homebound, which was directed by the celebrated Neeraj Ghaywan, made India proud on the international scene.

It debuted in the prestigious Un Certain Regard section of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. Being the only Indian feature chosen for the festival this year, it marks a significant milestone, and the reception was nothing short of spectacular.

A resounding nine-minute standing ovation was given to Homebound after the screening, which was evidence of the film's emotional depth and compelling narrative that enthralled the global audience.

As the cast and crew soaked up the overwhelming love, the video showed the audience standing up and bursting into applause.

Karan Johar, was spotted hugging director Neeraj Ghaywan, who was clearly touched by the outpouring of gratitude.

Vishal Jethwa, Janhvi Kapoor, and Ishaan Khatter, the main actors, stood next to the group, grinning proudly as they acknowledged the cordial welcome. The moment between Karan and Neeraj encapsulated the evening's emotional impact, while Ishaan and Karan were observed folding their hands in appreciation.

With co-producers Marijke deSouza and Melita Toscan Du Plantier, Homebound boasts a strong production team that includes Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra. The project has garnered international attention due to the notable appointment of renowned Hollywood director Martin Scorsese as executive producer.

The movie, which stars Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor, and Vishal Jethwa, is about two young friends from a small North Indian village who want to become police officers in order to regain their long-lost dignity. But as their aspirations become more real, the friendship that once bound them together starts to falter due to growing desperation.
