Selena Gomez opens up on becoming a mother: "Hopefully one day that’ll be me"

On Thursday, October 9, the 33-year-old actress and singer took to Instagram Stories to celebrate her role in the Wizards of Waverly Place sequel series, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place.

Selena Gomez, who recently married her longtime boyfriend Benny Blanco, has opened up about her thoughts on motherhood.

On Thursday, October 9, the 33-year-old actress and singer took to Instagram Stories to celebrate her role in the Wizards of Waverly Place sequel series, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place. In the post, she also shared her dream of becoming a mother someday.

“Alex Russo is a mommy,” Selena wrote, referring to her beloved character from the Disney series. “Hopefully one day that’ll be me.” She included a short clip from her final episode on the new Disney+ show.

In the series’ two-part finale, viewers learned that Alex is the mother of Billie Russo, played by Janice LeAnn Brown. After the episode aired, Selena and Janice reflected on their strong connection both on and off screen.

“It was very emotional, especially for me and her after the table read,” 15-year-old Janice said in an interview shared on the Disney Channel’s YouTube page.

“We were just puddles,” Selena added with a laugh.

Earlier, on the August 7 episode of Jake Shane’s Therapuss podcast, Selena spoke about how special it felt to return to the world of Wizards of Waverly Place. She described the reboot as “a new, refreshing take” and said revisiting an older version of Alex Russo has been both nostalgic and fulfilling.

Back in March, during her conversation on Jay Shetty’s podcast, Selena had also shared her affection for kids. “I don’t know what will happen, obviously, but I love children,” she said. “I love making them laugh—they’re just so sweet. So absolutely, when that day comes, I’m so excited for it.”

Selena and Benny announced their engagement in December 2024 and tied the knot on September 28, 2025, in a beautiful ceremony in Santa Barbara, a year after they began dating.
