Chadwick Boseman to receive posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Late actor Chadwick Boseman, who passed away in 2020 at the age of 43 after a long and courageous battle with colon cancer, remains one of the most beloved and respected figures in Hollywood. Known for his powerful performances in films such as Black Panther and Da 5 Bloods, Boseman left behind an unmatched legacy of strength, dignity, and artistry.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has announced that Chadwick Boseman will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame posthumously in recognition of his outstanding contribution to film. Scheduled for November 20, the ceremony is another proud occasion to honour his lasting impact on the film and cultural industries.

During the ceremony, Simone Ledward-Boseman, the late actor's wife, will kindly accept the honour on his behalf. A fitting homage to an artist whose work continues to inspire audiences worldwide, Boseman's star will be permanently installed at 6904 Hollywood Blvd. in Los Angeles.

According to Billboard, Black Panther director Ryan Coogler and Viola Davis, who co-starred with Boseman in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, will deliver heartfelt speeches during the event, paying tribute to his life, career, and impact.

Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, shared her admiration for Boseman’s influence, saying, “The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is deeply honored to celebrate Chadwick Boseman’s extraordinary legacy with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His powerful performances and impact both on and off screen continue to inspire generations around the world.”

Boseman received accolades for his portrayals of important Black American historical figures throughout his career, such as Thurgood Marshall, James Brown, and Jackie Robinson. In 2021, he received a posthumous Academy Award nomination for his last role as Levee Green in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.
