Ghaati faced tough competition at the box office

Anushka Shetty starrer Ghaati hit the theatres on Friday, September 5. The Telugu-language action crime drama film, directed by Krish Jagarlamudi, opened in the theatres with decent numbers.

According to a trade website, Ghaati earned around Rs 2 crore net in India on its first day for all languages. The film registered an overall occupancy of 23.98% Telugu Occupancy on Friday, with 21.08% morning shows, 21.96% afternoon, 23.95% evening and 28.92% night shows.

The film is facing tough competition with Madharaasi, as it collected Rs 13 crore on Day 1. Additionally, the film registered the lowest collection than Anushka Shetty's last release, Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty (2023), which earned approximately Rs 4 crore net on Day 1.

Despite receiving praise for her powerful performance, Ghaati has received negative reviews. It appears that Ghaati will have a hard time surviving in the days ahead.

The film is produced by Yeduguru Rajeev Reddy and Saibabu Jagarlamudi under First Frame Entertainments, and presented by UV Creations. The film also stars Vikram Prabhu, Chaitanya Rao Madadi, and Jagapathi Babu in the key roles.

The film revolves around an empowered woman who gets entangled with the weed trade due to circumstances. Desperate times lead a resilient woman down a life-threatening path as she becomes entangled in the high-stakes world of the cannabis trade.

An excerpt of Moneycontrol Ghaati review reads, “Ghaati has a lived-in feel because of its rough landscapes, unpolished textures, and unprocessed images. However, the pacing is erratic; the first act drags before the second half picks up speed. Without overpowering the realism, Krish's deft use of mythological symbolism—comparing Sheelavathi's ascent to Maa Sita destroying Ravana's Lanka—adds depth.”
