Well, well it's the face-off of the century. The ever-so-contentious, raging Mumbai vs Delhi debate is reaching its penultimate point—the Bollywood housewives from Mumbai are locking horns with women with Fabulous Lives from Delhi. There are plenty of cool cameos in the third and probably the most engaging season of Netflix and Dharmatic Entertainment's ‘Fabulous Lives….’ titled Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Lives.
This season, you can expect to see a Karwa Chauth party, a high-profile restaurant opening, a fun-filled adventurous trip and drama, lots of it! Our OGs—Neelam Kothari, Maheep Kapoor, Seema Sajdeh and Bhavana Panday make way for three new additions to their kitty—the eccentric Seema Paasi, an intimidating Kalyani and a Bollywood royalty Riddhima Kapoor.
Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives: Cast
The season opens with Maheep, who calls herself ‘Diabetic Queen (type 1)’ and Neelam Kothari sharing their disappoints over not being invited to the MASH bowl, a MET Gala-level UNICEF charity event organised by Shalini Paasi. Maheep's accent this season keeps getting more and more British (Australian?) with each episode and vocabulary more questionable. Yes, she uses the word ‘f*ck’ plenty of times.
Maheep has hit a rough spot in her friendship with Seema—we finally get to see a real conflict as opposed to what seems like pre-planned altercations. With Seema going through a divorce and Maheep landing in ICU, the two friends who were once ‘joined-at-hips’ have beef.
Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives: What’s New This Season
In the meanwhile, the girls try but can't wrap their heads around an eccentric Shalini, who would have changed five outfits by the time I am done writing this review. Shalini has more staff members than the members in family. Meanwhile, Kalyani is a single mother who has a silverware business. Seema and Kalyani find solace in each other’s company as the two single women in the group.
This season, you’ll get to see a dramatic walk in Sunder Nursery, a Karwa Chauth party, a MASH ball and a glamorous restaurant opening (think: Gauri Khan). The cameo list this time is long (as usual). There’s Ranbir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Orry, Karan Johar, Ekta Kapoor, Ananya Panday, Sanjay Kapoor, Chunky Panday, Ranbir Kapoor and, of course, Gauri Khan.
Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives: What Works, What Doesn’t
What works well for this season is obviously the three additions—all of whom bring their unique flavour to the show. The most interesting to watch is Shalini whose outfits are usually the center of attention. Unlike the last season which gets repetitive and somewhat exhausting, the new cast members (and the possibilities of drama among the cast) keeps the show going.
However, on the downside, it is easy to spot the many pre-planned altercations and confrontations. Yes, some of these dramatic moments are organic but for most of them, you know there is BTS orchestration. The Bombay vs Delhi fight gets heated when girls criticise each other's fashion choices and of course, there is a brunch with KJo (the instigator-in-chief) who causes drama. Watch this show only if you are in for a weekend cringe binge.
