Exclusive: Mismatched season 3's Aditi Govitrikar opens about leaving TV, winning Mrs. World, and being replaced in projects overnight

In an exclusive chat with Moneycontrol.com, Aditi Govitrikar, actor from Mismatched Season 3, spoke about her career journey. From her decision to step away from TV and her groundbreaking win as Mrs. World to the emotional experience of being replaced in projects, Aditi shared her candid reflections.

Reflecting on her experience working on Mismatched Season 3, Aditi shared, “Working on Mismatched Season 3 was an incredible experience. The atmosphere on set was very positive, and the younger cast was exceptionally hardworking and well-prepared. The chemistry among the actors was fantastic, which made the shoot all the more enjoyable. I must also mention the outstanding production quality—it was truly a pleasure to be part of such a well-organized and high-standard project.”

Breaking Barriers as Mrs. World

As the first Mrs. World from India, Aditi broke significant barriers for married women in the pageant and entertainment industry. Reflecting on how winning the title shaped her career, she said, “Winning the Mrs. World title was a pivotal moment. Back then, the idea of a married woman thriving in the glamour industry wasn’t widely accepted—many women even felt the need to hide their marital status. My win opened doors for countless married women, proving that marriage doesn’t limit potential.”

However, being in the public eye is no easy feat. She continued, “Being in the public eye comes with its own challenges. Constant scrutiny, especially in today’s world of smartphones and social media, means you have to be vigilant about how you present yourself. It’s not always easy, but over time, I’ve learned to navigate it while maintaining my personal boundaries.”

Stepping Away from Fictional Television

Although Aditi has been absent from fictional television since 2015, she didn’t intentionally step away from the space. She shared, “It wasn’t a conscious decision to step away from fictional television. I’ve always followed my instincts and gone with the flow. Recently, I shot for an OTT series, and I think platforms like these have redefined storytelling. While TV remains timeless, OTT content offers unique opportunities, and I’m always open to considering projects that excite me.”

The Most Significant Project in Her Career

Choosing a single project as the most significant is no easy task, but Aditi was quick to highlight several key moments. “It’s hard to pick just one because every project has been special in its own way. If I had to name a few, Thammudu holds a special place as my debut film with Pawan Kalyan, and it was a massive success. Even years later, people recognize me for it. Winning Mrs. World was, of course, a career-defining moment.”

She continued, “Other highlights include Adnan Sami’s music video Kabhi Toh Nazar Milao, which is still loved, and the iconic Coca-Cola commercial with Hrithik Roshan. Films like De Dana Dan and Paheli also stand out. I feel truly grateful for every opportunity I’ve had.”

Handling Challenges and Replacements

In the competitive world of entertainment, replacements are inevitable. When asked about being replaced in projects, Aditi opened up, saying, “Yes, I’ve been replaced in a couple of projects, and it’s always disheartening—especially when you aren’t given closure. You wait for updates, only to find out much later that someone else has taken over the role. It’s disappointing, but I believe in the importance of communication. A simple explanation can go a long way in maintaining professionalism and respect.”

Considering Stepping Away from the Industry

There have been moments when Aditi questioned her place in the industry. She shared, “Yes, there have been moments of doubt when I questioned whether to continue in this field or pursue something else, like going back to medicine. But every time I felt this way, a major opportunity would come along and reignite my passion.”

Now, with her role as the founder of Marvelous Mrs. India, Aditi has found a new sense of purpose. “Now, with my involvement in Marvelous Mrs. India as its founder, I’ve found a sense of purpose that keeps me anchored. Alongside that, I continue to act and participate in various events, which keeps my love for the industry alive.”

A “Pinch-Me” Moment

The career highlights don’t end there. When reflecting on a truly surreal moment, Aditi revealed, “Winning Mrs. World remains one of the most surreal moments of my life. There were so many rumors about who might win, and to actually hear my name called felt like a dream.”

She also mentioned some unforgettable interactions with industry legends. “Another highlight has been meeting icons like Mr. Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan—those interactions are always unforgettable. And there are moments when fans recognize me years later, like during a recent visit to Tirupati. It’s humbling and heartwarming.”

Lessons from the Early Years

Looking back on her career, Aditi shared a valuable lesson she wishes she had learned earlier. “I wish I had sought guidance from a mentor—someone who could have helped me make informed decisions about roles and projects. Having that kind of support and advice early on would have made a big difference.”

Looking Ahead: Future Projects and Goals

As for the future, Aditi has exciting projects on the horizon. “I recently finished shooting for a series called Teri Meri Love Story, which is set to release in mid-February. Once I’m allowed to share more, I’ll be excited to talk about it. Beyond that, Marvelous Mrs. India takes up a lot of time, and I look forward to balancing my work in events and acting with this passion project.”
