Actor Emraan Hashmi, gearing up for latest film Ground Zero, recently remembered late singer KK during a podcast episode and called him "irreplacable'.
Emraan appeared on YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia's podcast and during their conversation, he paid homage to KK, with whom he has collaborated on several of his films.
He said, "I can't take any credit. It was a big loss for our industry and a huge shock the way he went. There is no substitute for certain talent. I used to sometimes visit the studio when he used to record songs. We used to have small talk. I have seen that magic take place when he used to sing. His music and voice was godsent."
Reflected Emraan Hashmi on his career, mentioning that while he had enjoyed a successful run, the period around 2018–2019 marked a low point for him, especially after films like Cheat India and The Body underperformed at the box office.
"I’ve seen how the industry serenades you during your high points. At one point, I couldn’t even stand in my living room - it was filled with flowers and gifts on my birthday. But when the tables turn after just one Friday, all of that stops," he added.
Emraan and KK have collaborated on several songs over the years such as Zara Sa, Tujhe Sochta Hoon, Dil Ibaadat, Beete Lamhein and more.

Emraan Hashmi will be next seen in his film Ground Zero, slated to release on April 25, 2025. Directed by Tejas Deoskar, the film draws inspiration from a historic real-life operation considered as one of the finest in BSF history, with Emraan playing the role of Deputy Commandant Narendra Nath Dubey.
The film also features a song by the late singer KK, who tragically passed away on May 31, 2022, after collapsing during a live concert in Kolkata.
