These unfair comparisons between lead characters and lead shows is so unnecessary and pitting women against each other, pitting content against each other is so uncalled for

Producer Ekta Kapoor’s popular series Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is returning today with a fresh reboot. In a recent chat with Brut, she reacted to rumours suggesting that Anupamaa, starring Rupali Ganguly, is facing challenges due to the return of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.

Ektaa was asked whether she sees a difference in the way women support each other in the industry, in comparison to how it was two decades ago. To which Ekta replied “Yesterday I was seeing some videos of Anupamaa having a problem as Kyunki is coming. I felt that was in such bad taste. She [Rupali] is such a big star. Anupamaa the show, the creator Rajan… has done what nobody else could do in the last seven years. They will continue to be number 1. They should continue to be number 1."

She further replied,"We are coming in for our purpose. To tell our story. These unfair comparisons between lead characters and lead shows is so unnecessary and pitting women against each other, pitting content against each other is so uncalled for.”

For those unfamiliar “Anupama” is one of the most beloved show on the Indian television. Produced by Rajan Shahi, the series gained attention for marking Rupali's return to TV. The storyline delves into the emotional struggles between parents and children, as well as the challenges of adult relationships.

The rebooted version is set to make its premiere on July 29 at 10:30 PM, airing on Star Plus and streaming on Jio Hotstar.
