Bollywood vanity vans have always fascinated fans, but filmmaker Sanjay Gupta has pushed the conversation into the spotlight with his candid revelations. Speaking on Cyrus Broacha’s podcast, the director detailed just how excessive some stars can get when it comes to their on-set luxuries.

Gupta revealed that a few actors maintain as many as six separate vans. “One van is for personal use, another for changing, one for makeup, and even a separate one just for holding meetings,” he explained. Beyond that, he added, stars bring along a dedicated gym van. “This means the actor brings a trainer, assistants, and staff just to manage it—so one van ends up involving several extra people,” Gupta said. Makeup and styling teams, he noted, also add to the entourage with their own assistants.

According to Gupta, one star has a fifth van set aside solely for eating, complete with a personal chef on site. “The chef is there to measure his food. Everything is customised,” he revealed. The sixth van, meanwhile, is reserved for the staff.

What shocked him most was the case of a Bollywood power couple who go even further. “They turn up with 11 vanity vans, including two kitchen vans. And despite being husband and wife, they still choose to eat separately on set,” Gupta said. The comment quickly set social media ablaze.

As soon as clips from the podcast began circulating online, fans were busy playing detective. Many speculated that the couple in question could be Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. Others argued Akshay Kumar fit the description. One user even claimed the shelved South film Gupta referenced was a Prasanth Varma project, the director best known for HanuMan.

Vanity vans have long been a symbol of stardom, but Gupta’s remarks offered a rare peek at just how extravagant some demands have become.

On the professional front, Ranveer Singh is gearing up for Aditya Dhar’s upcoming film Dhurandhar, co-starring Sara Arjun and Sanjay Dutt. Deepika Padukone, meanwhile, has signed on for Atlee’s next project opposite Allu Arjun. Whether or not Gupta’s hints were aimed at them, the couple remains firmly in the limelight—both for their work and for the speculation that seems to follow them everywhere.
