Diljit Dosanjh and Hania Aamir starrer Sardaar Ji 3 recently hit the overseas theatres after facing major controversy and backlash in India. However, the film is performing well in the overseas theatres, and Diljit celebrated the success of his latest release.
The singer and actor took to his Instagram Story and re-shared the Universal Cinemas video that showed a packed theatre in Pakistan. The video was shared with the caption, “12 shows on ultra screens, the largest in the country. Overwhelming response from the audience for Sardaar Ji 3. Come and watch.”
Sardaar Ji 3 was released in the theatres on June 27. The makers decided not to release the film in India after they faced backlash over the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in the film. The backlash came after the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which took 26 Indian tourists, increasing the tension between India and Pakistan.
Several projects with Pakistani artists, including Vaani Kapoor and Fawad Khan’s romance comedy, Abir Gulaal, were postponed following the terror attack. Meanwhile, Mawra Hocane was also dropped from Harshvardhan Rane’s Sanam Teri Kasam 2.
Directed by Amar Hundal, Sardaar Ji 3 also stars Neeru Bajwa and Saleem Albela in the key roles.
The latest romance comedy revolves around a ghost hunter, Jaggi, and his spirit friend Pinky, as they team up to investigate a haunted castle in the UK. As they confront a defiant ghost and uncover a dark secret, Jaggi races against time to solve his most difficult case.
