Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, who has put her acting career on hold, has embraced motherhood. The actress welcomed her baby girl Dua Padukone Singh on September 8, 2024.
However, she has recently opened up about her new role as a mother. Deepika also opened up about her emotional journey to motherhood.
During a recent interview with Marie Claire, Deepika described her pregnancy as ‘complicated’ and said, “I went through a lot in the eight, nine months of being pregnant and delivery.”
She explained, “I don’t know if that was a compliment or a jab. What does that mean, taking motherhood seriously? Yeah.”
However, the actress further noted that she feels blessed to be surrounded by caring family and friends and their support despite the tough pregnancy. She also expressed that she feels grateful for her supportive loved ones who regularly check in on her.
"I've been very lucky to also have that support system that's more than happy and willing to step in whenever I need it," she added.
Deepika further revealed how she and her husband Ranveer Singh took their time to pick their daughter’s thoughtful name.

Deepika and Ranveer waited until after their daughter's birth to choose a name that suited her personality. Deepika drew inspiration from poetry and music, and one night, she texted "Dua" to Ranveer, who immediately agreed. For the unversed, Dua means prayer.
On the work front, Deepika was last seen in Singham Again alongside Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, and Kareena Kapoor Khan. The actress is currently focusing on her new life with baby Dua.
