Xolo Mariduena joins One Piece

Xolo Maridueña, known for his role in Cobra Kai, has recently joined Netflix's One Piece for season three, trading in the dojo for the Grand Line. Season 2 is yet to be released, and Netflix has already created excitement among the fans by announcing a major update on Season 3.

The official social media handle of Netflix shared a short announcement video unveiling Xolo as Portgas D. Ace. The video was captioned, “ONE PIECE: Season 3 just got a whole lot hotter!! We are beyond excited to announce that Xolo Maridueña will be playing the beloved Portgas D. Ace in the next stretch of our adventure!”

However, the video started with Xolo hiding his face with the screenplay and reading, “A huge explosion and Ace steps out of the flames…” Xolo then unveiled his face, sending his fans into a frenzy.

Previously, Cole Escola was announced to portray Bon Clay.

Joe Tracz and Ian Stokes, who co-wrote The Girl with the Sawfish Tattoo and The Man in the Straw Hat from season 1, will co-run season 3. Stokes and Matt Owens, who co-developed the series with Steven Maeda, are also co-writing The Beginning and the End, the premiere of season two.

Executive producers for Season 3 include Joe Tracz and Ian Stokes (who are also writers and showrunners), along with Eiichiro Oda, Tomorrow Studios' Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements, Tetsu Fujimura, Chris Symes, Christoph Schrewe, and Steven Maeda.

One Piece Season 3 started filming this year in Cape Town, South Africa.

Meanwhile, One Piece Season  2 is slated to release on March 10, 2026, on Netflix.

One Piece revolves around a daring young pirate named Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) as he sails the seas with his Straw Hats crew: swordsman Roronoa Zoro (Mackenyu), cartographer Nami (Emily Rudd), storyteller Usopp (Jacob Romero), and chef Sanji (Taz Skylar). Luffy dreams of becoming the King of the Pirates by finding the infamous pirate Gold Roger’s mysterious treasure, the One Piece.
