According to reports, BTS has recorded a previously unreleased Michael Jackson song for an upcoming global tribute album. The news has been attributed to Paddy Dunning, who owns Grouse Lodge Studios in Westmeath where Jackson stayed for five months in 2006 while working on what was meant to be his major musical comeback.
After Jackson left Ireland, those recording sessions were left incomplete and remained unreleased until his death in 2009. However, Dunning has since taken the lead in reviving the archived material.
As reported by India Today, Dunning mentioned in a recent Irish Sun interview that,” the sessions started last year, and we have already had the Korean boy band BTS over with us in Grouse Lodge, recording one of the songs.”
With support from Michael Jackson’s Estate, the initiative will also release a documentary highlighting the pop icon’s time in Ireland, revealing a deeply creative yet largely private chapter of his life to fans.
Dunning further shared that the tribute album will include approximately ten new songs especially created for Jackson by his Irish collaborators, such as producer Rodney Jerkins and rapper Nephew. “The Estate told me to plough ahead with this because, like me, they see it as a tribute to Michael," Dunning explained, adding that international artists are being approached to contribute to the remaining tracks.
For BTS, this represents another milestone in their career as they celebrate Michael Jackson’s lasting legacy. Their record-breaking English hit song Dynamite was a heartfelt tribute to Jackson, from the shimmering outfits and iconic fedora flips to dance moves that mirrored his legendary style. Though this collaboration comes after his passing, it further cements the cultural connection BTS has fostered across generations and global audiences.

No official release date for the album or documentary has been announced yet, but fans of BTS and Michael Jackson are already excited.
Since August is also Jackson’s birth month, an announcement or release could happen soon. If confirmed, BTS would be the first K-pop group featured in a posthumous Michael Jackson project.
