In the wake of the emotional posthumous release of the film Ikkis, the last movie of the late Bollywood legend Dharmendra, actor Sidharth Malhotra took to social media to express his deep admiration for the veteran’s final poetic tribute.
The film’s makers recently shared a clip featuring Dharmendra reciting a heartfelt poem titled “Aj bhi ji karda hai, pind apne nu jaanwa”. The verse captures a nostalgic yearning for his roots, memories of village life, childhood friendships, and the simple joys of home.
Moved by the emotional gravity of the poem, Sidharth reposted the video, adding his own tribute, calling Dharmendra a "'Aj bhi ji karda hai, pind apne nu jaanwa!..' Dharam Ji was a genuine son of the land, and his words embody the spirit of that land. This poem from him is a longing, a homage from one icon to another. Thank you for presenting us with this everlasting piece. #Ikkis in theaters globally on 25th December 2025."
For many fans and industry insiders, the poem, paired with Dharmendra’s voice and memories, served as a powerful farewell to an actor who stayed deeply connected to his native soil throughout his six-decade‑long career. The video shows him revisiting village lanes, meeting old friends, and recalling simpler times, evoking a wave of nostalgia and respect among viewers.
Ikkis tells the inspiring and little-known story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, India’s youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra. The film features Agastya Nanda and also features notable performances from Jaideep Ahlawat, Ekavali Khanna, and several other talented actors.
