Rani Mukerji and Akshay Kumar were reportedly collaborating on the upcoming film, Oh My Goddess. Directed by Amit Rai, the film is in the pre-production phase and is scheduled to go on floors in April. A new report has suggested a cast shake-up as Rani exits the film.
According to Bollywood Hungama, director Amit Rai and Rani Mukerji had a disagreement over the script and its presentation.
A source told the outlet, “Soon after the announcement, creative differences started cropping up between Rani and Amit Rai. Rani had her own vision for the film based on her understanding of the script and post-production, and wanted work to proceed in that direction.”
“On the other hand, Amit Rai had his own different idea for presenting the film. Because of this, they couldn't find common ground,” added the insider.
According to sources, Akshay Kumar even attempted to act as a mediator between Rani Mukerji and Amit Rai. However, they were unable to work things out, and in the end, they both made the decision to separate professionally.
Rani adored the writing, according to the report, but she was compelled to quit the project with a heavy heart due to the circumstances.
Oh My Goddess is co-produced by Viacom18 and Akshay Kumar. Additionally, he will make a cameo appearance in the movie. The report claims that the film crew is currently preparing to replace Rani with another senior actress.
This is not the first setback for Akshay Kumar. The actor had already heard negative news regarding his film Bhagam Bhag 2 before Rani Mukerji's departure from Oh My Goddess.
Raaj Shaandilyaa, the film's director, nearly quit the production after Ekta Kapoor handed him a legal letter. Filming for the movie was scheduled to begin in March, but it has been delayed for the time being.
