Rajpal Yadav Bail Hearing Updates: Plea hearing deferred to February 16

As per ANI, he bail plea of actor Rajpal Yadav is now scheduled to be heard on Monday, February 16. His counsel informed the court that he was unable to get in touch with Yadav despite attempts to contact him. The lawyer submitted that a bail application has already been filed and requested time to serve the response to the opposing side. He also assured the court that he would be prepared with detailed submissions on the next date of hearing.

As per Indian Express, Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma reprimanded actor Rajpal Yadav, observing that he had repeatedly assured the court of repaying the loan amount. However, despite giving multiple commitments, he failed to deposit any money. The court noted that promises were made on several occasions, but no actual payment was made toward clearing the due

During the hearing the Delhi High Court raised concerns over Rajpal Yadav’s assurance that he would repay more than Rs 3 crore, observing that the matter has been pending for a considerable period.

As reported by Mint, the court pointed out that despite multiple promises made during revision hearings and mediation proceedings, Rajpal Yadav sought nearly 25–30 adjournments and failed to clear the outstanding dues.

Kamaal R Khan has stepped forward to support Rajpal Yadav, who is currently in Tihar Jail in connection with a cheque bounce case. Joining actors like Sonu Sood and Gurmeet Choudhary, he publicly appealed to the film industry to come together and help the actor financially.

Taking to X, Kamaal R Khan wrote, “I am ready to give ₹10 lakhs for Rajpal Yadav. Let’s all Bollywood people come together to give him ₹5 cr! If he pays back only ₹5 cr, then he can come out of jail immediately! Let’s all help him."

As the bail hearing continues, Rajpal Yadav’s longtime friend, actor Padam Singh, has spoken out in his defence.

Speaking to NDTV, Padam Singh said, “He made Ata Pata Laapata with very forward-thinking and with great sincerity. He directed it himself, and most people in the film industry worked on it enthusiastically. Secondly, the investment that came in for the film at that time kept increasing with interest. He is a very mentally strong person and has the strength to face any situation. He has the blessings of Gurudev.”

Veteran singer Anup Jalota has joined the growing list of celebrities offering financial help to Rajpal Yadav, pledging Rs 5 lakh in support, according to India TV News. He follows actors such as Sonu Sood, Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn and Varun Dhawan, who have also reportedly stepped forward during this difficult time.

As per Bar and Bench, Rajpal Yadav’s bail matter will be taken up again at 2:30 PM after the Delhi High Court sought clarity regarding the outstanding payment.

According to India Today, the counsel for Murli Projects opposed the plea, arguing that the defence cannot claim confusion or misinformation during earlier hearings, especially since Rajpal Yadav was represented by the same senior advocate, Bhaskar Upadhyay, at the time.

As per Bar and Bench, during the hearing, the Delhi High Court made a stern observation, stating, “We may have sympathy for you, but the law is the law. You did not surrender despite the court's order… and only surrendered when the court issued the order again.”

Rajpal Yadav’s lawyer requested interim bail, informing the court that the actor wishes to attend his elder brother’s daughter’s wedding. The counsel also assured the bench that Rajpal Yadav is prepared to deposit the remaining dues and has received financial support from members of the Bollywood industry and others.

The legal trouble dates back to Rajpal Yadav’s 2012 film Ata Pata Laapata, for which he had reportedly taken a Rs 5 crore loan. When the film failed at the box office, the repayment became difficult, and several cheques issued towards the loan allegedly bounced.

The matter then turned into a legal case under the Negotiable Instruments Act. Over the years, accumulated interest and penalties pushed the outstanding amount close to Rs 9 crore — a burden that has now brought Rajpal Yadav back into the spotlight during his bail hearing.

Rajpal Yadav’s bail application will be heard by Hon’ble Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma. The case, filed by Murli Projects Private Limited, pertains to a long-pending cheque-bounce dispute.

As proceedings move forward, Rajpal Yadav is seeking relief from the court, hoping for a positive outcome in the years-old legal matter.

Tej Pratap Yadav has pledged Rs 11 lakh to support Rajpal Yadav’s family after the actor was sent to Tihar Jail in the Rs 9 crore debt case.

Sharing a note on X, Tej Pratap Yadav expressed sadness over the situation and wrote, "I just received information about the pain of the family of the honorable Rajpal Yadav ji through the post of my elder brother Rao Inderjeet Yadav ji. In this extremely difficult time, I and my entire JJD (Jan Shakti Janata Dal) family stand in complete empathy and solidarity with their grieving family."

Rajpal Yadav’s bail hearing is set to take place today at 1 PM, days after the actor surrendered at Tihar Jail on February 5.

Speaking about his situation earlier, Rajpal Yadav reportedly expressed deep distress, saying, “Sir, what should I do? I have no money, I don’t see any solution. We are all alone here, I have to deal with this problem myself.”

Music producer Rao Inderjeet Singh Yadav, founder of GemTunes Music, has pledged Rs 1.11 crore to support Rajpal Yadav amid his ongoing financial and legal troubles.

His contribution comes as part of a growing wave of support from the film and music fraternity. The gesture is being seen as a significant step towards helping Rajpal Yadav navigate this difficult phase.

Businessman Mayank Arora, co-founder of Yes Madam, has backed Sonu Sood’s appeal to support Rajpal Yadav during his ongoing legal troubles.

Sharing his thoughts online, Mayank Arora wrote, “Seconded @SonuSood. Even brands should come forward to help the great talent.” His remark broadened the call for support beyond Bollywood, urging businesses and brands to step in as well.

Amid Rajpal Yadav’s current legal troubles, an old interview of Nawazuddin Siddiqui has resurfaced, highlighting the actor’s generosity during his early days.

Recalling those struggling years, Nawazuddin Siddiqui had said, “A lot of people would eat at his home… his house was like a langar. Anybody could come and eat there… he is a very sensitive human being.”

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) also came forward to appeal to the film and TV industry to stand by Rajpal Yadav during his "challenging phase of his life." FWICE appealed to "all producers, directors, artists, technicians, associations, and well-wishers to extend their moral and financial support to help Shri Rajpal Yadav resolve his liabilities and regain his freedom, dignity, and peace of mind." "Members and well-wishers willing to offer monetary assistance may contribute directly to Shri Rajpal Yadav or route their support through FWICE. The Federation assures complete transparency, and any funds received will be responsibly consolidated and handed over to assist him in settling his dues at the earliest," the release stated.

Rajpal Yadav’s wife, Radha Yadav, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to members of the film fraternity who have stepped forward to support the actor during his ongoing legal troubles. Speaking to PTI, Radha Yadav said, “Everybody has stood by him. The industry has been supportive. A big thank you to everyone who is coming forward to help.”

Her statement comes at a time when Rajpal Yadav is lodged in Tihar Jail following a cheque bounce case linked to a Rs 9 crore loan dispute.

Several Bollywood personalities, including Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Varun Dhawan and filmmaker David Dhawan, have reportedly offered financial assistance to Rajpal Yadav and his family. Actor Sonu Sood, Gurmeet Choudhary and music composer Rao Inderjeet Yadav are also among those who have extended help.

Rajpal Yadav’s long-time manager Goldie Jain confirmed that many actors, directors and producers have reached out with offers of assistance during this difficult period.

Goldie Jain, who has managed Rajpal Yadav for 25 years, described the response from the industry as deeply reassuring. He told SCREEN, “A lot of people have reached out to help Rajpal Yadav. Actors like Sonu Sood, Salman Khan, and Ajay Devgn have extended their support. I was just on a call with David Dhawan, he too reached out. Ratan Nain, Varun Dhawan… many people are coming forward to help him this time, which Rajpal has deeply appreciated.”

According to him, while commitments have been made, financial processes naturally take time.

Singer Mika Singh also appealed to the Hindi film industry to turn words into action. In a video message, Mika Singh said he was “truly happy and proud” to see colleagues offering support but urged them to ensure that help is organised properly and reaches the right place.

He stressed that solidarity should not remain limited to social media posts but must translate into meaningful contributions.
