Mastiii 4: CBFC cuts six dialogues and removes ‘animal humping visuals’ from Milap Zaveri’s adult comedy film

The upcoming adult comedy Mastiii 4 has cleared censorship hurdles ahead of its theatrical release tomorrow, but not without a handful of cuts and modifications mandated by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

Known for its bold humour and risqué tone, the fourth instalment of the popular Masti franchise had raised concerns about how heavily it might be censored. Surprisingly, the CBFC allowed it through with relatively limited interventions.

According to details accessed by Bollywood Hungama, the film underwent six dialogue-related changes. Three dialogues were modified for language and tone, while one was asked to be replaced entirely. The CBFC objected to the usage of certain words, prompting the makers to swap out the word “behen” in one instance and “item” in another, replacing both with milder alternatives. Additionally, the name of an alcohol brand referenced in the movie was altered, likely to avoid promoting a real beverage company.

On the visual front, the censor board required more direct interventions. The most significant deletion was a 9-second “top-angle animal humping visual”, which the CBFC deemed inappropriate for public exhibition even within the film’s adult-rating. The board also ordered the reduction of 30 seconds of close-up shots of human faces, bringing the total trimmed duration to 39 seconds.

After these changes were implemented, Mastiii 4 was granted an ‘A’ certificate on November 17. As per the censor certificate, the film’s final runtime is 144.17 minutes, translating to 2 hours, 24 minutes, and 17 seconds.

Directed by Milap Zaveri, who recently delivered a surprise success with Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, Mastiii 4 marks the return of franchise regulars Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi, and Aftab Shivdasani. The trio, who have headlined Masti (2004), Grand Masti (2013), and Great Grand Masti (2016), reunite for another round of adult humour and absurd escapades.

The film also features Ruhii Singh, Shreya Sharma, Elnaaz Norouzi, Natalia Janoszek, Shaad Randhawa, and Nishant Singh Malkani, along with special appearances by Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, and Nargis Fakhri.
