Actor and former Miss India Celina Jaitly has levelled a series of deeply disturbing allegations against her estranged husband, Austrian entrepreneur Peter Haag, as her domestic violence case came up for hearing in a Mumbai court this week.

Filed under the Domestic Violence Act, Celina’s petition paints a grim picture of sustained abuse, manipulation and financial coercion that she claims spanned the entirety of her marriage.

Here is a detailed breakdown of the 10 most explosive charges, as described in her petition, legal filings and public statements, now at the centre of the legal battle.

1. Alleged emotional, physical, sexual and verbal abuse: Celina alleges years of severe emotional, physical, sexual, and verbal abuse, claiming she eventually fled their Austria home due to fear for her safety.

2. Abuse immediately after marriage: The petition recounts multiple incidents across Italy, Dubai, Singapore, and Austria, including rage episodes, reckless driving during her pregnancy and constant verbal humiliation.

3. Threats to disfigure and humiliate her: Celina claims Peter Haag repeatedly insulted her appearance, allegedly saying she “looked like his maid” and would be mistaken for domestic help.

4. Physical violence during pregnancy and postpartum: Celina states she was pushed out of their apartment while recovering from C-section surgery, and once struck on the back during a dispute in Singapore.

5. Forced to quit her film career: According to Celina, Peter prohibited her from working soon after the wedding, stripping her of “financial independence and dignity,” and leading to an alleged Rs 50 crore loss in career opportunities.

6. Financial control and coercion: Her lawyer claims Peter Haag isolated her after her parents’ death, controlled her finances and accessed her accounts and assets without consent.

7. Transfer of her Mumbai flat: Celina alleges in 2017, while she was grieving the loss of both parents and one of her newborn twins, Peter manipulated her into transferring property rights of her Mumbai flat.

8. Misappropriation of money and misuse of her cards: The petition states Peter siphoned funds, misused her debit and credit cards and even tapped into her insurance payouts.

9. Restricted access to her children: Celina alleges Peter denied her access to their children once legal battles began, allowing contact only under supervision or court orders.

10. Forced to flee Austria “With Nothing”: Her lawyer claims she escaped Austria in fear, leaving without her belongings, and could not bring her children along to avoid facing accusations of kidnapping.
