Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap dropped the announcement on Tuesday that the two-part modern classic Gangs of Wasseypur will be re-released in theatres on August 30.

Kashyap shared the exciting update on Instagram along with posters of the iconic Bollywood film and wrote, "In three days the Gang will be back again .. GOW back in cinemas." Gangs of Wasseypur will re-release in theatres from August 30 to September 5. Tickets can be purchased on the official website of Miraj Cinemas.

The 2012 intergenerational revenge saga Gangs of Wasseypur starred Manoj Bajpayee in the lead, alongside actors Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Richa Chadha, Huma Qureshi, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, and Jaideep Ahlawat. The film garnered critical acclaim and commercial success upon its release.

Gangs of Wasseypur, a two-part film series set in the town of Wasseypur near Dhanbad, Jharkhand, chronicles the story of a coal mafia family entangled in crime, extortion, and murder across three generations. Co-written by Anurag Kashyap and Zeishan Quadri, the first part was released on June 22, 2012, and the second part followed on August 8, 2012.

With its gritty portrayal of crime and violence, co-written by Kashyap and Zeishan Quadri, Gangs of Wasseypur became a commercial and critical success upon release in 2012.

Adding to its legacy, the film was screened in its entirety at the prestigious Cannes Directors' Fortnight, marking a rare achievement for Hindi-language cinema. The film's soundtrack, composed by Sneha Khanwalkar and Piyush Mishra with lyrics by Mishra and Varun Grover, further solidified its grip on audiences worldwide.
