Anuja producer Guneet Monga to wear Manish Malhotra ensemble outfit for Oscars 2025: 'I can't believe it'

As the prestigious event is set to take place on March 2, filmmaker Karan Johar added to the excitement by sharing a special video on social media. The video features producer Guneet Monga Kapoor, whose short film Anuja has earned a nomination in the Best Short Film (Live Action) category.

Karan Johar posted the clip on Instagram on Sunday, further building anticipation. In the video Guneet shows a picture on her phone wearing the D-Day outfit.

Guneet further explains in the video that she is excited that its a corset along with a saree and an overcoat. The all brown ensemble looks gorgeous. She is further heard saying, "This didn't even exist in my vocabulary that I can also have an afterparty outfit. So Manish went on to make two outfits in the same hand-woven fabric and I can't believe it."

Guneet Monga Kapoor’s short film Anuja, which has earned an Academy Award nomination, brings to life a poignant and thought-provoking story. Set in a small garment factory in New Delhi, the film follows the journey of a 9-year-old girl, Anuja, who works alongside her elder sister, Palak. As she toils away in the factory, she finds herself at a crossroads—forced to choose between continuing her education or staying in the workforce to help support her struggling family. This crucial decision not only shapes Anuja’s destiny but also holds the power to influence the future of her entire family.

The film is backed by a powerhouse team, with Guneet Monga Kapoor serving as the executive producer alongside Hollywood star-writer Mindy Kaling and global icon Priyanka Chopra. Guneet, a celebrated name in the industry, has previously made history by winning an Academy Award in 2023 for The Elephant Whisperers, which won Best Documentary Short Film.

Indian audiences can catch the live telecast of the Academy Awards 2025 in the early hours of Monday, March 3, starting at 5:30 AM IST. The prestigious event will be broadcast on Star Movies and Star Movies Select in India, while those preferring to stream it online can watch it live on Disney+ Hotstar.
