Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan has rubbished the news of his hospitalisation yesterday at Kokilaben Hospital for angioplasty as 'fake news'.

Yesterday, social media platforms were buzzing with netizens worrying about megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s health. Earlier in the day on Friday, March 15, there were multiple  reports all over the internet, stating that the super star had undergone angioplasty. It was also reported that this was either for a clot in his leg or a blocked artery.

It was reported in the media that he was admitted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital for just a routine checkup while others stated it was for an angioplasty. There were no confirmations, however, from the Bollywood super star’s office nor did the hospital confirm the news of his being admitted.

Yet, this news went viral and #Amitabh Bachchan and #Kokilaben Hospital were the top trends on X yesterday.

Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam had also tweeted on X, yesterday, saying, “Praying for Amitabh Bachchan’s speedy recovery. #AmitabhBachchan.” There were thousands of others like him who wished the beloved octogenarian well and tweeted they were praying for the superstar’s health and also wished he would get well soon.

However, yesterday evening, the Bollywood star and  his son Abhishek Bachchan were papped in Thane at the Dadoji Kondadev Stadium. The father-son duo were seen attending the finale of the Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) that was being played between Majhi Mumbai vs Tiigers of Kolkata.

In a viral video that began circulating on social media, soon after the match ended, Amitabh Bachchan was seen leaving the stadium  in Thane when a photographer asked him about his health. Initially, the Bollywood megastar just gestured that all was well to the large crowd of journalists, photographers and videographers present at the exit point of the stadium. The video showed him being asked, ‘How are you? All fine?’ and it is seen that Amitabh Bachchan leans in to say ‘Fake news’ thereby dismissing all previous reports of his ill health and hospitalisation and putting an immediate end to all the rumours about this viral news.

The actor was last seen in Ganapath, starring Tiger Shroff and will next be seen in ‘Kalki AD 2898’ starring Deepika Padukone and Prabhas. He will also be seen with his superhit co-star from yesteryear hits like Andhaa Kaanoon and Hum, Rajnikanth in the upcoming Tamil movie Vettaiyan.
