Allu Arjun reveals he had no work after his first film, Pushpa 2 director Sukumar has a big impact on his career

Allu Arjun, one of the most celebrated actors in the Indian film industry today, revealed a lesser-known chapter of his career during the pre-release event of his much-anticipated film Pushpa 2: The Rule.

Speaking candidly, Arjun reminisced about the struggles he faced after his debut film, Gangotri. Despite the movie being a commercial success, Arjun admitted he was “jobless” and had no offers coming his way until filmmaker Sukumar believed in his potential and changed the course of his career.

Early Struggles in the Film Industry

Allu Arjun made his debut as a lead actor in Gangotri, directed by Raghavendra Rao. Reflecting on his early days, Arjun said, “Raghavendra Rao garu delivered a superhit, but I didn’t deliver as an actor.” Despite the film’s success, it didn’t lead to any new opportunities for Arjun. He revealed, “No one came to work with me after the release of the film.”

This phase of uncertainty in his career could have deterred many, but it became a turning point when Sukumar, a debut filmmaker at the time, approached Arjun for his film Arya. Arjun shared, “Then, a debut filmmaker came up to me and offered Arya. There has been no looking back since then.”

Sukumar: A Lifelong Collaborator and Friend

Sukumar, who is now an acclaimed director, is known for his unique storytelling and deep character portrayals. His debut film Arya, starring Allu Arjun, turned out to be a massive success and marked the beginning of a long-lasting professional relationship between the two. Over the years, Sukumar has played a pivotal role in shaping Arjun’s career, with Arya and later Arya 2 cementing the actor’s place in the industry.

During the event, Sukumar’s absence was palpable as he was busy with the final post-production edits of Pushpa 2: The Rule. Arjun took a moment to express his gratitude, stating, “When I look back at my career, and if I have to point out the one person who had the maximum impact in my life, it would have to be Sukumar.” His emotional words highlighted not just their professional bond but also the deep personal friendship they share. “Even now, he is busy with the post-production. His absence speaks louder than his presence. I miss you, Sukku. We are all in this together.”

Pushpa 2: The Rule - A Game Changer

The upcoming Pushpa 2: The Rule is a sequel to Sukumar’s 2021 blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise. The film, which starred Arjun in the titular role of Pushpa Raj, became a cultural phenomenon, with its songs, dialogues, and Arjun’s rugged performance earning widespread acclaim. The sequel is expected to take the narrative forward and promises to be an even grander cinematic experience.

Arjun expressed his excitement about reuniting with Sukumar for this project, emphasizing the mutual trust and creative synergy they share. “Sukumar’s belief in me has always been unwavering. Every time we work together, we aim to push the boundaries of storytelling,” Arjun said.

The sequel, set to release on December 5 in multiple languages, including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Bengali, has fans eagerly waiting. Alongside Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil will reprise their roles as Srivalli and Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, respectively.
