Oscar-winning director Alejandro González Iñárritu has extended an offer to Anurag Kashyap for a role in his upcoming film as per the statement made by director Nithilian Swaminathan at the Galatta Nakshatra Awards in Chennai.
Fans could potentially witness this exciting collaboration in the near future. The clip of Nithilian’s revelation has recently surfaced on X, sparking buzz among cinephiles. Anurag, who played a villainous role in Maharaja, could soon showcase his talents in a new international project with Iñárritu, marking another milestone in his career.
At an event, the director of Maharaja mentioned, "I am a huge fan of Anurag sir. Recently, I went to Mumbai for his daughter’s wedding, and he told me Iñárritu offered him a role after watching Maharaja. When I heard it, I didn’t know how to react. I felt happy. I love him."

While there has been no official confirmation on the collaboration, and Anurag Kashyap has yet to comment on the project, rumors have sparked after director Nithilan Swaminathan’s statement.
Last October, Variety reported that Alejandro González Iñárritu is gearing up to begin production on his next English-language film, starring Tom Cruise. The cast already includes notable names such as Sandra Hüller, John Goodman, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons, and Sophie Wilde, but additional casting details remain under wraps. Fans eagerly await further news to confirm whether Kashyap will indeed be part of this high-profile venture.
Iñárritu achieved remarkable success with consecutive Oscar wins for Best Director for Birdman, starring Michael Keaton, and The Revenant, featuring Leonardo DiCaprio. His most recent directorial venture was Bardo: False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths, which earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Cinematography.
Anurag recently made waves with an interview in The Hollywood Reporter India, where he expressed his disillusionment with the Bollywood film industry and revealed that he's heading to Kerala for his upcoming work. His latest feature, Kennedy, has yet to be released theatrically in India.
